Float

Technological process of glass which now prevails in the world is "Float process", so the glass so produced are called "float glass". Glass is obtained by wide band molten mass slides on the liquid metal in a chamber with controlled atmosphere. The mass gradually cooles and formes glass in an ideal flat surface. Today it is a standard method for glass production and over 90% of world production of flat glass is float glass. The ability to add various impurities in the basic mixture enables the production of glass of different colors, types, properties.

The most significant feature of the main product - a colorless, flat glass obtained from the float - procedure is transparency and clarity of the glass mass, uniformity of thickness and parallelism of the surfaces. Method of preparation of raw materials and the ability to add various impurities in the basic mixture allowed the manufacturing of glass in various colors and with different characteristics.

In addition, to such a glass, whether hot or cold, with technological procedures, different layers or deposits which are obtained for the various uses of glass can be applied. So, for of all the described reasons, glass from this group is classified in the primary or base products because they are the foundation or basis for the production of other types of glass.
